Shared removals, combined removals, groupage removals… there are many names by which “group removals” are called. The main advantage of this moving option is that the same space – and therefore the same truck – is shared by several customers. In a shared move, the furniture is grouped together to minimize transport costs and thus lower the proposed rates. This system allows you to save up to 50% compared to a normal move. So let’s see the most important things to know about shared removals in five points!
1) CHEAP BUT NOT RISKY FOR THIS
The first thing to keep in mind when it comes to shared moving concerns costs. As we have seen, a shared move allows you to save up to 50%, without however renouncing the quality and professionalism of the service and without exposing the person to the risks of do-it-yourself. Cheap? If you don’t live on the ground floor, don’t have adequate machinery and means or even if you have to transport bulky furniture… definitely yes!
2) MAXIMUM WAITING TIME FROM 15 TO 60 DAYS
A move becomes shared when more people join the operation. It is therefore clear that you have to wait a certain amount of time for everything to be ready. In our case we are talking about a maximum of 30 days, but for other moving companies the wait can be up to 60 days. Calculating this variable is important because it could affect the actual savings achieved.
3) FROM THE DISASSEMBLY OF THE FURNITURE TO THE TRANSPORT
As for a normal move, so for a shared move the customer can participate in some activities or completely delegate the various tasks. The steps include, for example, packing the furniture, transporting it to the warehouse, labeling it, loading it into the compartment of the van… up to positioning the furniture and objects in the house, shop or office. The estimate will also be drawn up on the basis of these parameters defined together with the moving company.
4) NO RISK OF CONFUSE OBJECTS AND FURNITURE
One of the biggest fears about shared removals concerns the possibility of confusing objects with each other. This is an unjustified fear because in reality each box is labeled with the name and identification data of the owner. Not only that, because after the delivery or placement of the furniture, everything is checked in person together with a member of staff, verifying the presence of each item and any accidental damage.
5) FREE ESTIMATE WITHOUT COMMITMENT
Although the shared move may seem strange and unusual, the dynamics are more or less the same as a traditional move. This also applies to the inspection and estimate step, offered in our case free of charge in the Quebec and Ontario areas, or by telephone or email for those who are further away. We carry out shared removals throughout Canada and also abroad: contact us without obligation for more information!
